Meets the third Wednesday of each month, 9-11 a.m., 105 Kearns Hall, Coastal Carolina
University (H.O.M.E. in the Center). Current projects include Food for
Thought workshops for the workplace and support information for parents.
Family Friendly Business Initiative: Margene Willis, 349-2526
Award-winning collaboration with the Coastal Organization of Human Resources. The first
19 companies have been designated as “Family Friendly” at either gold, silver or bronze levels.

First Book Board: Joan Grimmett, 488-6782
Meets the second Tuesday of each month, 8-9 a.m. (location changes). Has provided
over 12,000 books in 3 years to children. New, hardbound books cost $3
each, making this a very cost-effective program.Currently needs $14,000
to meet requests from family literacy programs in Horry County. Ideas and resources for
funding much appreciated.
Positive Voices—Teen

to prevent teen pregnancies and develop better youth programming.

Collaboration with Shoreline Behavioral Health Services to develop plans with parents, youth,
faith groups, youth organizations and businesses to work together to prevent teen substance abuse.
